Noise in 185 Driving Cabs
The following are a series of reports and repair book slips highlighting my concerns on the noise inside these driving cabs while moving, I have only selected a small amount of reports and repair slips, ( I have decided to add the others at a later date) I do have numerous amounts of both, like I have always said throughout this website, I can back everything up that I say with evidence.

SIEMENS and TPE Management should have spotted this particular issue during testing over in Germany, its clearly evident while moving in this country, is there any difference between testing in Germany and running on the UK Rail Network? This is even before I highlight the warning horn and windscreen wiper problems!

This shows a previous request for noise assessments to be carried out on the 158 fleet, which as always never received any response. I had been informed by Drivers who first worked the 185 units that they were extremely noisy, I asked for any risk assessments and once again my requests were IGNORED.
A list of common faults, wipers, noise, cab to cab phone issue, seats not secure and lack of cab heat.
Many issues raised, all are serious health & safety concerns, all IGNORED.
Questions need to be asked about the response from Siemens Depot Staff employee D Hodgson. Quite clearly running at 5mph within a depot siding will not recreate running at high speed, I know the response, "Dick Ed, 5mph on depot mong", is out of order, but it also highlights the frustration of other drivers, this should have been referred to testing in traffic. Is the comment that was made a falsification of a record? Is it harassment or bullying? Is it offensive? In the eyes of "EQUITY", would I have got away with writing this, remembering that I once got a reprimand for writing the word "bloody" in a repair book!
This is approx 8 months into the service of 185 units, SIEMENS now realise a modernisation programme is required to replace the door seals, this noise would have been evident during testing, more importantly whatever modification that was carried out never worked.

Both repair slips highlight high noise levels, repair slip 011368 is written in reference to what C Morton said, namely that he rode on that unit from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport and did not find the noise deafening.
Lets remember that journey would probably take 25 minutes and the speed of the train would only reach 75mph maximum, traffic permitting.

Part of a Drivers report from 15th November 2007, 3 issues raised about 185 units, door noise complained about and the modification programme is queried due to noise levels being the same as before.
Yet another complaint about noise, with a plea, "all I ask for is a response". All it would have taken was a reply to let me know what was happening, can anyone understand why these people, this company always ignored my requests and reports? This IGNORANCE was surely HARASSMENT.

My complaint to the Office of the Rail Regulator
First issue that arises from this reply is, Mark Lenderyou is given a supposed noise survey from TPE, why couldn`t TPE have given me a copy of this? I was Health & Safety Rep at that time, why not consult with me like they were supposed to?
Second issue is that Mark Lenderyou carries out his own noise test, this constitutes a ride from Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield, now depending on traffic, that unit would possibly have only reached 90mph for a short length of time between Marsden and Huddersfield, I do not see how that can possibly replicate a journey travelling at 100mph on the East Coast Mail Line.

So what you have to ask yourself is, why would TPE Management BLATANTLY LIE yet again, their LIES have succeeded in turning Mark Lenderyou and the ORR against me. So what am I left with, where the hell am I supposed to go?
I CHALLENGE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR PAUL WATSON AND PRESENT MD NICK DONOVAN. IS THIS HOW YOU EXPECT YOUR MANAGEMENT TO BEHAVE? IS THIS WHAT YOU CALL EMPLOYEE RELATIONS?
WHAT CHANCE DID I EVER HAVE OF USING THE CORRECT REPORTING PROCEDURES IF I AM CONSTANTLY IGNORED, THEN WHEN I DO TAKE MY ISSUES FURTHER YOUR MANAGEMENT LIE TO THE GOVERNING BODY. SO TELL ME, NOW WHERE DO I GO?
