Chris was a very reserved character who most of the time kept himself to himself, however when he became annoyed he did let his frustration's known and was very similar to myself in that he did rightly question what he found unjust.
I had many chat's with Chris and know his frustration's were exactly the same as what I was going through.
Below you will find a 4 page report from Driver Chris Hobbin who very sadly is no longer with us, being health and safety rep at the time Chris wrote this report, he left me a copy and spoke to me at length about his feelings towards the job and how he felt management treated not only himself but other driver's, some of his concern's are evident in this report.
Recently one of Chris's relatives contacted me regarding this website and his own feeling's towards the very sad event that unfolded.
This started as a report regarding a TPWS activation that occurred whilst doing a shunting movement and ended full of emotion with Chris showing his frustration's towards a job he really enjoyed.
What started out as a normal reporting of a TPWS incident ends with this man's thought's and feeling's on safety matter's and the type of management he is faced with. I personally encountered this bully boy IGNORANT management on a daily basis through my role as H & S rep.
"Catching driver's, sorry robot's", my feeling's entirely, all this management did was attempt to trap a driver and put points on their license, it was simply a control measure, which had a negative effect, it installed fear into driving. Because they have no concept of "human factors" or indeed what this mean's they will fail to understand my wording, "negative effect", this is because of their seige mentality which is highlighted in the section "bullying management".
You would actually have thought that the above paragraph was written by me, everyone could see the way this management treated me, I probably put on average 4 or 5 reports a week in. Yet as freely admitted by TPE management and verified by Judge Grazin below, "It is equally not in dispute that in the vast majority, if not all, of those cases, the respondent simply did not respond to them". How sad it is that a company like TPE who screamed "safety first" allowed their management to totally IGNORE the representations of a H & S Representative.
What makes this even sadder is the fact, that this website highlights this management's failings and ruthlessness towards it's staff, shown here with documentation to back up everything I state. There is nowhere on this site that I don't have evidence to back up what I say.
Yet member's of First Group Board look at this site and in traditional TPE fashion, IGNORE it. "Rotten to the core". Remember this, when it goes' wrong, the blame lie's with you, the law of average's will catch up eventually!

As Christian states, "A history of management style which is out to get you", he was spot on, this behaviour didn't just appear in 2006, this was there from the outset further boosted on the appointment of chief bully Barry Cook.
"Why can't we all work together"? Brilliant question, I asked this many times, I attempted to make it happen, yet all I faced from the beginning was LIE'S and the usual IGNORANCE.

Christian made a very good point here regarding safety, he never received any response, why didn't any member of TPE management have the decency to respond or pass this further, to their supposed safety section for instance, I can tell you why, IGNORANCE.

"A few years ago a relative, a young train driver was so pursued and monitored with constant downloads over speed as to drive his car off the road after a railway multiple management visit, attentions that followed his offering assistance to a person they wished to openly dismiss for perceived whistleblowing, as a result of what they had create themselves by doing what others had bidden them to do, knowing it was wrong".

The actions and behaviour towards Christian by manager's Percival and Steele should have been investigated, management visits in the guise of "welfare"? What training did these two individuals have in "welfare"?
Many people have come forward and asked the very same questions, I even have a driver who told me that when he had a "welfare" visit from Percival & Steele he was told, "we have to be careful now because of what happened to Christian"!
